We are upgrading one of our machines from 2012 to Server 2019.
My plan was to shut down the old machine and just domain join the new machine (both have the same name).
Will that be a problem or will the old Computer Object in AD just accept the new server?
In case I have to remove the old server first – what happens to GPOs / DNS and stuff where that Computer Account was linked? A new computer account will have a new sid right? So I’d have to know where to put it before I do those steps?
