KRBTGT password reset trouble

  • 0

Wondering if any of you ever ran into this issue when resetting your krbtgt account passwords. I ran that script (New-Krbtgtkeys.ps1) on Friday to do my first reset of 2, and it worked pretty well. Did an informational run first, looked good and did the #4 “real” password reset right after. It changed the passwords just fine. Waited about 36 hours and then I ran it again yesterday and lsass crashed mid-script, right about at the point where the password resets would occur. The whole pdc rebooted 1 min later per the warning. Only one event log error about it, lsass.exe crash with the stop code c0000374. Nothing else to go on. Now I’m a bit unsure if I should run it again after the PDC rebooted due to the crash. Ran the script again in informational mode and all I can see is that the 2nd password reset never occurred, and probably the only reason I’m still up and running. Anyone run into this issue? Wondering if anyone might have some insight. Replies are greatly appreciated!

Did you use the Microsoft one or Jorges one(the best one)?

I’ve used Jorges a bunch and never had an issue but I can always ask him if he has see such issues.
