So I have a Main Server running Server 2008 R2 that is used for the following services:
Active Directory
DHCP
Primary DNS
Firewall Cisco ASA
Now i wanted to know if i can upgrade with the following path in the hopes of not losing any data:
2008->2012->2016->2019
And if this is possible what precautions should I take, also is it possible to have a “secondary active directory”?
To my knowledge, and in real life practice, I have encountered no issues with doing so, as long as no other changes such as modifications to authentication methods are occurring as well. Authentication meaning things such as NTLM or Kerberos changes. I would find it unlikely that you would be doing any those things.
